Trump was told in January that Flynn misled Pence, WH says

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Wednesday Feb. 15

United States President Donald Trump's National Security Adviser Michael Flynn resigned on Monday after reports emerged that he had discussed the country's sanctions with Russian Federation.

Flynn had promised Pence he had not discussed sanctions with the Russians, but transcripts of intercepted communications, described by USA officials, showed that the subject had come up in conversations between him and the Russian ambassador. Still, the matter deepened questions about Trump's friendly posture toward Russian Federation.

Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine said that if Pence were misled, "I can't imagine he would have trust in Gen. Flynn going forward".

Previously, the White House was warned about Flynn's communication with Russian officials, and reportedly said he was vulnerable to blackmail.

Abdel-Rahman went on to become one of the country's most prominent and outspoken Muslim clerics to denounce Egypt's secularism. However, they struggled to explain why he was later awarded a green card, allowing him permanent resident status.

Spicer said White House counsel's office reviewed the situation after it was flagged by the Department of Justice, and along with the president, the counsel determined that it did not pose a legal problem. Flynn was a loyal Trump supporter during the campaign, but he is viewed skeptically by some in the administration's national security circles, in part because of his ties to Russian Federation.

"Russia is a ruse", he said.

It's illegal for private citizens to conduct USA diplomacy.

MSNBC's "Morning Joe" co-host Joe Scarborough said Tuesday that Flynn's resignation wouldn't have happened if a "patriot" didn't leak information to the Washington Post, (though it was clearly more than one person).

Wozniacki and Pliskova advance to Qatar Total Open finals
Wozniacki went into the match with a 3-0 record against Pliskova, who will remain No. 3 in the world rankings. Puig also had to complete her quarter-final match earlier Friday, edging Daria Kasatkina 4-6, 7-5, 6-4.

The controversy surrounding Flynn comes as the young administration grapples with a series of national security challenges, including North Korea's reported ballistic missile launch.

Pence had defended Flynn in television interviews and was described by administration officials as upset about being misled.

Christie did not call for the White House to take any specific action to reduce Flynn's role.

The Washington Post reports that Sally Yates, then-acting attorney general, informed the White House of the possible breach late last month. While Pence and other officials emphatically denied Flynn ever brought up the question of sanctions with Kislyak, investigators did not rule out Flynn was operating in concert with others in the administration. Flynn was part of Trump's daily briefing Monday and sat in on his calls with foreign leaders, as well as his discussions with visiting Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Just six days into his presidency, Trump was informed his national security adviser had misled his vice president about contacts with Russian Federation.
