National Hockey League trade deadline: Wild meet Coyotes' steep price for Martin Hanzal

Minnesota sent that message to the rest of the National Hockey League, along with as many as three high draft picks to Arizona, by acquiring coveted center Martin Hanzal and depth forward Ryan White in a bold trade Sunday with the Coyotes.

Multiple outlets report the Wild have acquired center Martin Hanzal, winger Ryan White and a fourth-round pick from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for a 2017 first-round pick, 2018 second-round selection and a conditional pick in 2019. They sit 16 points behind the St. Louis Blues for the second Wild Card playoff spot with 21 games remaining.

Google Accuses Uber Of Stealing Its Self-Driving Car Secrets
The paper reported the news late Friday, citing two unnamed Uber employees, as well as internal company documents. Meanwhile, Uber said it has taken the allegations seriously and would review the matter carefully.

The 25-year-old Pulkkinen had a goal in nine games with the Wild this season. While Hanzal isn't likely to see much power play time on the Wild, he has 3.17 points per 60 minutes played on the power play for the Coyotes, which is again the fourth highest in Arizona.

An unrestricted free agent this summer, Hanzal could prompt the Wild to re-sign him if he performs well down the stretch and could be signed at an affordable rate. They lead the Western Conference with 84 points, and the trade for Hanzal is a clear indication that they're going for it this season. He has a 47.6 5v5 CF%, but +2.1% relative to the rest of the Coyotes. Bruce Boudreau has Minnesota at the top of the standings, so the Wild apparently believe this may be their best opportunity to make a deep run.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga brushes aside Pouille to win third Marseille title
He was broken at the start of the match and again at 3-3 in the second set as Tsonga secured his second title of 2017. Sixth seed Richard Gasquet overcame top seed Gael Monfils in an all-French quarter-final 6-7 (5/7), 6-4, 6-2.

Hanzal is an excellent player but there's no way around the fact that this is a steep price for Minnesota.

For the Coyotes, General Manager John Chayka secured a sizable haul of decent draft choices over the next three years.

Oceti Sakowin protest camp clean up could take a while
The two tribes say the $US3.7 billion pipeline creates a risk of water pollution and endangers sites they consider sacred. Early Wednesday, protesters burned some wooden structures on site in what they described as a leaving ceremony.

GM Stan Bowman has said the Blackhawks wouldn't be making any big moves before the trade deadline, so their lack of activity around Hanzal fits with that. Here's wishing him and Ryan White the best in Minnesota.
