Valve to Show New HTC Vive With Eye-Tracking Tech

Valve has issued a brief statement on the subject, saying only that the new device is "designed to deliver a high fidelity, next generation VR experience".

LG's headset could be more advanced than anything we've seen before, but should be compatible with a lot of Steam content. The company says that the new VR headset will use SteamVR Tracking technology, and possibly be built on the OpenVR platform. This will place LG as direct rival to HTC, who had in the past teamed up with Valve to create the HTC Vive VR headset. Also, LG has experimented with VR in the past - like when it launched the 360 VR headset for LG G5 flagship.

That includes using SteamVR Tracking-Valve's royalty-free and increasingly open VR tracking technology-Valve has confirmed to Road to VR.

Musk said that the cost of the mission will be completely covered by the anonymous passengers, according to the Times . The two unnamed people will fly aboard a spaceship which is set for its first unmanned test flight later this year.

Valve Corporation first confirmed the partnership with LG with RoadToVR earlier today.

It seems that Valve's long-term vision seems to be paying off as LG will be building its new VR headset basing it upon Valve's design.

LG has yet to share any specific details about the VR headset.

LG could be planning a virtual reality headset to take on the HTC Vive, according to reports that the company is working on a high-end device developed in collaboration with game studio Valve.

Price and availability for LG's VR headset will be announced at a later date.
