Dan Carter's French club Racing 92 merges with Stade Francais

Could Will Genia team up with Dan Carter

Stade Francais centre Jonathan Danty said he was upset because the players were not made aware of the club's plans.

"This association, effective from next season, must give birth to a new club that will preserve the roots of Racing 92 as those of the Stade Français Paris while multiplying the means put at the service of youth and French rugby".

Ironically, Stade Francais' final match is against Racing on April 29.

Now, with the club merger, this further calls into question what future O'Gara, along with a host of other members of the coaching staff, has at the newly outfit.

The three-match series now stands at 0-0 with the second Test set to begin from March 16 at the Basin Reserve in Wellington . Neil Broom comes in at No 4 for the Black Caps in place of the injured Ross Taylor for the match in Wellington .

Asked about the strike rumours, players' union chief Robins Tchale-Watchou said: "I am meeting with Stade Francais players today, we'll see what comes out of it".

The merger will need to be ratified by French rugby authorities.

Star players in the Racing 92 squad include New Zealand World Cup winners Dan Carter and Joe Rokocoko, while Stade Francais' top players feature the likes of French worldwide Pascal Pape and Italian Sergio Parisse.

Danty and wing Djibril Camara both went against the wishes of the France management and left the squad hotel on Monday to discuss the issue with stunned Stade team-mates at a Paris restaurant.

"What do we do about those players who signed pre-contracts for next season, those players who have started making arrangements for next season?" said Tchale-Watchou.

"Both clubs have got a huge history in French rugby and Stade Francais have won the title many times, they have a massive tradition just like Racing".
