Beauty And The Beast Breaks UK Box Office Records

Emma Watson may get Rs 100 crores for Beauty and the Beast

The $160 million live-action adaptation of Beauty & The Beast just opened to $170 million in the USA alone, with an additional $180 million worldwide, which means there have been a lot of broken records. Last year, Disney's Finding Dory debuted with $135 million.

Official numbers will not be released until Monday, however the current sales already indicate that Beauty And The Beast will break Watson's personal record of $169 million for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II, which now holds the title for the eighth all-time most successful opening weekend.

Still, Michigan State offers a bigger landmine than you would like to see in the second round as a 1 seed. As for a current member of the KU team, freshman Mitch Lightfoot recalled watching that game as a KU fan.

Beauty and the Beast, made for about $160 million, is the latest effort by Disney to re-create one of its animated classics with live action and digital effects. That's the largest opening day for a PG movie, passing 2009's "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince".

Rumours during filming of Beauty And The Beast abounded that Dan Stevens, who plays the Beast, was refused a rental auto upgrade in order to accommodate his two children; it was also claimed that Disney refused to pay for an upgraded flight for Lily James' mother during promotion for Cinderella. The movie then took in $64.8 million on Saturday (the fourth-best Saturday take ever, beating the $62.2 million earned by "Iron Man 3" in 2013).

The 1991 Oscar-winning remake opened with an estimated $170 million in North American ticket sales, which also sets the record for the year's top opening.

Outside of a few scenes, the movie is an nearly exact remake of the classic 1991 Disney animated feature, which went on to win Oscars for best original score and best original song.
