Ace Indian shuttler P V Sindhu defeated Olympic champion Carolina Marin in the summit clash in the India Open Super Series Badminton tournament at the Siri Fort Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday.
The final match between PV Sindhu and Carolina Marin at the India Open is tentatively scheduled for 06:00 pm IST. Her exploits included the China Open Superseries Premier and the Syed Modi International titles, besides reaching the Hong Kong Open final as well as the semi-finals of the World Superseries Finals. At Rio, Sindhu had lost gold to the Spaniard Carolina Marin.
Asked about the doubles players, Gopichand said: "I think we can say that Pranaav and Sikki have done well and Chirag and Satwik are also there".
Alex Rodriguez confirms Jennifer Lopez romance
Eyewitnesses reported that they were seated close to one another as you'd expect a couple in a romantic relationship to. We're not convinced he even knows Jennifer Lopez, let alone is dating her after all.
In the third game, Sindhu was back on her rhythm and a 5-1 lead seemed a ideal start to the deciding game. None of this mattered to the capacity crowd, of course, who were cheering Sindhu in what they saw as a grudge match for the Olympic loss. The women's singles summit clash at the Siri Fort Sports Complex was billed as the re-run of the Rio Olympics final in August a year ago when Marin had come from behind to outplay Sindhu.
But P.V. Sindhu got the better of Saina Nehwal in a pulsating all-Indian quarter-final of the India Open World Superseries badminton championships here on Friday.
In the decider, Sindhu took an early lead but still had to dig deep into her reserves to halt Sung. But Sindhu was prepared this time around as she raised the tempo once again to clinch three straight points and pocket the game. Sindhu, who shares a good relationship off-court with Marin, agreed. Just two points, and Marin misses a golden chance as she hits it wide.
