Alphabet's Verily Smartwatch is Not for Sale, but only Medical Study

Alphabet's Verily Smartwatch is Not for Sale, but only Medical Study

It has physiological and environmental sensors capable of measuring cardiovascular variables, movement disorders and other areas. It also connects to the cloud, but because the device supports health data, all data is encrypted.

The company calls this wearable device a Study Watch.

The unassuming wearable will also be used for Baseline, a previously announced study dating back to 2014, which is created to track the long-term vitals of 175 individuals, in an attempt to build "the fullest picture of what a healthy human being should be".

Ricciardo finished fourth, followed by Ferrari's Raikkonen and Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas in sixth. Dutch teenager Max Verstappen is the new shining light at Red Bull, where Vettel won his titles.

Study Watch is the new investigational device released by AlphabetSays the team "The ability to passively capture health data is critical to the success of continuous care platforms and clinical research". Examples include electrocardiograms, heart rate, electrodermal activities and inertial movements.

However Alphabet's Verily has chose to go in a different direction with the announcement of the Study Watch. This smartwatch is nothing close to other such wearables available in the market. This is joined by a battery able to run for up to one week before needing charged again. The Alphabet company is now showing off the rather sleek Verily Study Watch for the first time.

The Study Watch will probably be entrusted with some important researches, like gathering vital signs for on-going works like the Personalized Parkinson's Project, which looks into the progression of the disease and then looks for its cure. On-device data is encrypted, with that information uploaded and processed using Verily backend algorithms and machine learning tools.

The device sports a heavy-lifting process designed for real-time algorithmic computations.

To make the Study Watch even more friendly for users who might be self-conscious about wearing a medical device, the Study Watch includes an always on display with a crisp, high resolution display. It has a battery that lasts up to a week, and has large internal storage, as well as a data compression system that allows the device to store weeks of raw data, thus relaxing the need to frequently synchronize the device.
