Champions League: Milestone-man Ronaldo secures Real's comeback win over Bayern

Apr.13 (ANI): Star striker Cristiano Ronaldo struck twice as Real Madrid edged past Bayern Munich 2-1 in the first leg of their Champion League quarter-final clash at the Allianz Arena here on Thursday.

Ronaldo scored his first goal in UEFA club competition during Manchester United's 7-1 victory over Roma on 10 April 2007, and 10 years and two days later reached the impressive milestone in Real's crucial win at Bayern.

Tejero has played once for the first team - as a late sub in a 3-1 win over Cadiz in the Copa del Rey. Real Madrid will consider themselves fortunate to be just one goal behind at the break but then showed why exactly they are the champions of Europe.

"We are all happy when the end of the season arrives with important matches".

Real defender Sergio Ramos had the ball in the Bayern net with time running out, but the goal was ruled offside but the Spaniards have the upper hand for the second leg at home next Tuesday.

Ronaldo then hit the victor as substitute Marco Asensio, on for Bale, put in a low pass for Ronaldo to tap the ball home between Neuer's legs.

The Portugal captain also became the first player in the UEFA club competition to score 100 goals on Wednesday.

"There is still a return game to come, even with another goal tonight it would not have been over".

Bayern were dealt another blow with a half-hour to play when Javi Martinez was sent off for a second yellow card within three minutes for fouls on Ronaldo.

But Bayern were outplayed in the second-half and most of Madrid's 23 shots on goal came after the break. He said he found it hard to believe they could stage another remarkable comeback in the second leg as they did against Paris St Germain in the previous round.
