Founding J. Geils Band Guitarist John Geils Dead At 71

According to CNN, the police found Geils unresponsive at his home in Groton when they went for a "well-being check", and he was declared dead at the scene.

The band broke up in 1985, with Geils turning towards his other passions of auto racing and restoration. He founded the J. Geils Band in 1968 and the group landed on the Billboard 200 in 1973 for their record Bloodshot.

Named Bluestime, the band released two records - "Bluestime" (1994) and "Little Car Blues" (1996) - with Rounder Records, USA Today reported.
