Tennessee teacher planned to take 15-year-old girl to Mexico

His 15-year-old daughter Elizabeth was rescued last Thursday after 38 days on the run with her former teacher Tad Cummins, who is facing a federal charge of transportation of a minor across state lines for the objective of having criminal sexual intercourse.

According to divorce papers filed by dad Anthony Thomas on Monday, the 15-year-old was physically abused by her mother for months before her parents separated in November 2015. "Obviously, we are really trying not to press her, because it's really traumatic for her to remember all of these things", she said. Cummins is 50 years old.

The teacher, Tad Cummins, faces a federal charge of bringing a minor across state lines for sex and state charges of aggravated kidnapping and sexual contact with a minor. She has been indicted on charges she abused their children, according to court records. The parents have been married for 30 years and have 10 children together, though only four of them are still minors. "We'll make sure she'll get what therapy she needs and that she's safe, that she knows she's safe". The pair went missing on March 13.

"I asked him why would he do this?" The divorce filing comes ahead of a child abuse trial set for Kimberly, who is accused of abusing their children.

Boko Haram releases 83 schoolgirls kidnapped 3 years ago
Some parents did not live long enough to see their daughters released. "No human being should go through this kind of ordeal". President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday met with the 82 Chibok girls before his departure to London for another medical checkup.

Mr Thomas told CNN's Ashleigh Banfield that his daughter was "the extrovert in a family of introverts", but she is now withdrawn and apprehensive around people.

Cummins, who appeared at an arraignment in Sacamento, walked into court wearing an orange prison jumpsuit that said "Sac Co prisoner" and he was shackled with a chain around his waist.

Elizabeth was flown to Tennessee Friday where she was reunited with friends and family, the family's attorney said.

The high school freshman also left her dog behind, Danielle said, and was very close to her younger sister Rebecca - to the point where the girl would call her "mommy".

The prosecutors say Cummins "made a number of damaging admissions to law enforcement that provide alarming insight into his mentality" during his post-arrest interviews. They'd been missing from Culleoka, Tennessee, for 39 days.

"We've gone through probably the worst experience of my life so far was having her gone, not knowing where she was or how she was", her father said.
