Michael Gove says Donald Trump 'wrong' to withdraw from Paris climate accord

President Donald Trump has said Washington will not be bound by the targets on reducing emissions of greenhouse gases set down in Paris and will cut funding for developing countries affected by climate change

Trump was represented in Bologna by Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt, who flew home at the end of the first day after insisting that the United States was continuing to seek "positive engagement" with its partners in the club of wealthy democracies.

OTTAWA-The Prime Minister's Office is disputing a report in a German magazine that described Justin Trudeau's concern about "provoking" the United States for withdrawing from the Paris climate agreement.

MINISTERS from the Group of Seven (G7) countries on Monday agreed that the US stood apart from the other six countries on confronting climate change.

The five-day visit by Jerry Brown, a Democrat, came just days after Trump declared on 1 June that the USA would pull out of the Paris Accord, which broadly commits 195 countries to try and keep the global average temperature below 2°C above pre-industrial levels, and to lower greenhouse gas emissions.

Truah letter calls on Israel to end occupation, create Palestinian state
Sears released a statement Wednesday saying that they removed their "Free Palestine" shirts from its online marketplace . Many Palestinian neighborhoods have suffered neglect and underfunding.

Pruitt, however, said in a statement he is "resetting the dialogue" on the topic, and believes that the "Paris Agreement is not the only mechanism by which environmental stewardship can be demonstrated".

United Nations executive director for the environment Erik Solheim, present at the morning sessions, said G7 countries, excluding the United States were absolutely committed to move ahead with climate action whatever happened in the White House.

Trump announced the USA withdrawal on June 1, and the leaders of France, Germany and Italy immediately released a statement expressing their regret over the US decision. All of these countries opposed Trump's plan to withdraw from the Paris accord and spent the weeks leading up to the decision lobbying the administration to remain in the pact. With a rogue superpower being led by a person who advocates numerous wrong solutions, perhaps there is a chance the rest of the world can unite to implement the correct ones.

Environment ministers and officials from the Group of Seven are holding a two-day meeting in Bologna, ending today, to discuss issues including climate change and litter at sea.

TMZ: Nick Gordon arrested for battery, kidnapping in Central Florida
Gordon was arrested by Sanford, Fla . police following a domestic violence call in the 800 block of Historic Goldsboro Boulevard. But the medical examiner couldn't determine if she killed herself, if someone else killed her or if her death was accidental.

Mr. Trump announced earlier this month that the US will bow out of the worldwide effort to avert the worst impacts of climate change, saying the Paris agreement would create job losses in the American coal, oil and natural gas industries, and in the manufacturing sector.

The U.S. has said it is open to renegotiating the accord, arguing that it imposes less stringent emissions standards on China, India and others.

Pruitt, a known climate-change skeptic, left after the morning session to meet with Trump.

"President Trump's announced withdrawal [from the accord] has heightened the focus on this fundamental existential threat called global warming, called habitat destruction, called species extinction", Brown said in a speech.

Senate Committee Hearing With Intelligence Chiefs
And that's something he got right into in his very first question with Dan Coats , the national intelligence director. After the hearing, Sen. "I've seen the tweet about tapes", he said, referencing a May tweet from Trump.

While voicing dismay at the US position, which was expected, environmental groups and concerned countries voiced optimism that the remaining six nations reaffirmed the Paris process and that the USA withdrawal had led to a groundswell of support elsewhere for the accord.
