Trump slams obstruction of justice story on Twitter

Donald Trump tweets anger over Russia probe ‘witch-hunt

President Trump confirmed Friday he is under investigation for the firing of former FBI director James Comey.

Mr Mueller was appointed special counsel to investigate Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential election and possible collusion by Trump campaign associates with the Russians, but there has been no indication that Mr Mueller told Mr Trump to fire Mr Comey. But on Friday, Trump said he is being investigation for firing Comey. In his latest of four Friday morning tweets, all angry and combative, the President says he is being investigated, and appears to target Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

The only other person who was involved in the decision to fire Comey, at least publicly, was Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who made the final recommendation to Trump based on Rosenstein's memo.

On Thursday, The Washington Post reported that Mueller's investigation has now expanded to include potential obstruction of justice by Donald Trump.

Trump denies having told Comey to back off the probe into Flynn, who had resigned on February 13 after it emerged that he had misled Vice President Mike Pence about the content of telephone conversations with the Russian ambassador to the US.

USA president Donald Trump appeared to confirm he is under investigation for obstruction of justice, as he lashed out at what he described as a "witch hunt" against him.

The investigation, the president added is being led by "very bad and conflicted people".

The White House has said the president "has never asked Mr Comey or anyone else to end any investigation, including any investigation involving General Flynn".

The Washington Post was one of several media that revealed this week that Trump himself is being investigated on allegations of obstructing justice.

Trump's friend Newt Gingrich - who is out with a new book titled "Understanding Trump" - is among those raising questions about the "anti-Trump" focus of Mueller's investigation.

Trump took to Twitter Friday morning to lash out at the months-long investigation into Russian Federation meddling.

Pence hired Richard Cullen, chairman of law firm McGuireWoods and a former federal prosecutor who has long ties to Comey, to help him respond to inquiries from Mueller, a spokesman said.

Scalise Upgraded From 'Critical' To 'Serious' Condition
The doctors said that while Scalise remains in critical condition , they "are encouraged by improvement in his condition". Scalise was on the second base when he was injured by a crazed gunman who was trying to kill Republicans Wednesday.

Mueller's initial investigation was probing the possibility that Trump surrogates colluded with the Russians to influence the election in order to boost Trump's chances against Democratic rival and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
