Keeping an eye on the tropics: 2 systems could become hurricanes

Hurricane forecasters keeping an eye on Gulf this weekend

A compact storm racing across the Atlantic became Tropical Storm Bret Monday afternoon.

The areas that would be affected by this storm include Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad, Tobago and Grenada. At this point, the system is expected to strengthen as it moves northwest into the Gulf of Mexico.

Maximum sustained winds are near 40mph (65kmph) with higher gusts.

Computer forecast models take the system northward, but from there it's highly uncertain. A Tropical Storm Warning has already been issued for part of the Louisana coast for this Potential Tropical Cyclone Three.

Scalise Upgraded From 'Critical' To 'Serious' Condition
The doctors said that while Scalise remains in critical condition , they "are encouraged by improvement in his condition". Scalise was on the second base when he was injured by a crazed gunman who was trying to kill Republicans Wednesday.

"The system east of the Caribbean is nothing for us to worry about". 4-6 inches of rain appears likely across Acadiana with localized 6-8 inch totals possible from Tuesday through Friday.

Two tropical disturbances brewing in the Tropics were given greater odds of swirling into tropical cyclones next week, forecasters with the National Hurricane Center said Saturday. If it develops, we are expecting it no stronger than a low end tropical storm. Current observations and satellite data have indicated that a broad low pressure area is centered near the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula.

(The "A" storm this year was Arlene, a weak tropical storm that formed in the ocean well before the start of hurricane season). A tropical wave in the central Atlantic also has an increasing chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.

Portions of the Gulf Coast are under a tropical storm warning, including all of the Southeast Louisiana coast.

Blues' protected list will be announced soon
As for goalies, each team will have to expose at least one under contract for next season, or a qualified restricted free agent. We'll find out exactly who made side deals with Golden Knights GM George McPhee prior to next week's expansion draft.

Bonaire and Arubda have been placed under troical storm watches.

How do hurricanes get their names?

Both areas of disturbance have a high chance of tropical development.

This system has a 90% chance of becoming a Tropical Depression or Tropical Storm within the next five days; likely across the south-central Gulf of Mexico.
