Ford to invest $900 million in Kentucky plant, add 1000 jobs

While it is cheaper to produce cars in Mexico and export them to the USA, it made more sense to manufacture vehicles in China, as the company would only be required to retool one factory to supply North America.

The company had planned to move USA production to Mexico and was building a new, $1.6bn factory near San Luis Potosi.

With this decision, Ford seems to be backing away from the strategy of moving small-car production to Mexico, which has emerged in recent years as a key hub for the global auto industry, and underscores China's growing influence in the auto market.

The U.S. automaker will start making the next-generation Focus in China from the second half of 2019, a year after output ends at one of its plants in MI.

Ford said the move would not lead to job losses in the US.

Whole Food shares keep rising, leading to bidding war speculation
Whole Foods , with Amazon backing, will expand brick and mortar much more quickly because of the financial power of Amazon . That being said, giants like Amazon have been making moves to gradually merge online and offline retail.

The automaker will start making the next-generation Focus in China from the second half of 2019, a year after output ends at one of its plants in MI.

The new North America Focus production plan saves $1 billion in investment costs versus the original plan-$500 million on top of the $500 million savings announced earlier this year by cancelling plans for an all-new manufacturing facility in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and moving Focus production to Ford's Hermosillo, Mexico, plant.

"China gets a lot of attention, we'll see how this plays out", Hinrichs said in response to a question about possible criticism of the move from Trump.

Hinrichs said his research has determined that customers, accustomed to cell phones and other products made in China, care more about the quality of products and not so much where they come from. "We are ecstatic that Ford has chosen to make this additional investment here, securing the futures of 1,000 of its employees, and we will continue to work closely with the company to ensure its long term success".

Make no mistake, Ford is taking a political risk here, and it's unclear if either the company's new CEO Jim Hackett or Chairman Bill Ford has lined up sufficient cover with the Trump administration.

J&K: 6 cops killed in ambush by terrorists
A 22-year-old civilian was also killed when forces opened fire on protesters while the encounter was underway. The clashes turned ugly after forces fired pellets and bullets killing two youth and injuring dozens badly.

Ford painted the production shift from Mexico to China, slated for mid-2019, as a purely financial move that will save the company US$500 million in reduced tooling costs. All these will help create a more operationally fit Ford, the statement said.

According to Automotive News, "the automaker will start making the next-generation Focus in China from the second half of 2019".

GM also imports cars from China to the USA market, notably the Buick Envision, a compact crossover.

The company updated the White House about its new plans today, said Ford spokeswoman Kelli Felker.

It is not clear how much damage the bullet did, but doctors say such wounds can be serious if they impact vital organs. Police stood alongside the fence at the field where the women's team often gathers for early morning practices.
