Pelosi defends leadership following special election loss

By now Pelosi should have been pulled down from her perch as the Democrat's minority speaker of the House and replaced with someone who understands the political implications of Trump's win and how to deal with it. "And at some point, the right thing to do ... is to defend her and her legacy", he said.

Fellow Democrat Tim Ryan, an Ohioan who challenged Pelosi for minority leader a year ago, offered the blunt diagnosis that "the problem is us, it's the party".

Democratic Rep. Kathleen Rice from NY told CNN that it's time for the Democrats to let her and the entire Democratic leadership team go. That a win in Georgia was going to be a huge referendum on what they perceive as unhappiness with the GOP party and our president blanketing the American landscape.

The solution to these problems, Ryan maintains, lies in changing leadership and widening the party's appeal.

Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Ohio, is among the leaders of that group. That diverse array of states helped Democrats hold House majorities for 70 percent of the time.

NCR's second airport to come up in Jewar
The state government will implement the project through the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). Contracts for this public-private partnership project will be awarded after competitive bidding, the statement said.

"The issue I think strategically is that Trump energizes their base and Leader Pelosi energizes their base", said Rep.

"I voted for myself for Black Caucus chair, and because I'm chair of the Black Caucus I won't talk about who I supported, when I supported [them] and who I would support in the future", he said.

He added that the Dems should not rule out the fact that a #Republican party's Karen Handel won against Jon Jossoff at 52 percent to 48 percent in Georgia. "That would be very bad for the Republican Party - and please let Cryin' Chuck stay!"

But after Donald Trump took office and Republicans dove into their agenda of repealing former President Barack Obama's health care law, Democrats' united opposition papered over their divisions and their generational divides. "We haven't been talking about these direct economic issues that people are talking about", he said. "People in OH don't grab me about Russian Federation at all when I'm home", Ryan said.

While Pelosi did prevail with more than double Ryan's vote share, she also lost almost a third of her caucus in the process.

Google celebrates filmmaker Oskar Fischinger's birthday with an interactive visual-music doodle
After the war, Fischinger moved to Frankfurt, where his fascination with film was born. Hong adds, "I hope it inspires you to seek out the magic of Fischinger for yourself".

In an interview with Fox News Channel's "Fox & Friends" that aired Friday morning, Trump said of Pelosi: "I hope she doesn't step down".

One special election 18 months before the national midterms is just a data point, of course; extrapolating national trends from such a unique race as Georgia's is unsound. Among those: Adding No. 2 roles to be filled by newer members on every House standing committee and adding six regional vice chairs to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. The Iraq war veteran endorsed eight veterans running for the House this week, and started a new national security task force with other young veterans within the Democratic caucus.

On "The Five" tonight, Jesse Watters said Pelosi fundamentally doesn't understand America or Americans. "And usually they go after the most effective leaders, because they want to take us, diminish the opportunity that we have". Her father and brother made their marks as mayors of Baltimore, and her well-liked brother-in-law, Ron Pelosi, whose nephew Gavin Newsom serves as lieutenant governor of California, won a seat on the San Francisco board of supervisors in the sixties and seventies.

"We will carry those key lessons forward in order to compete in districts as Republican-leaning as Georgia, and in the dozens of districts on our battlefield that are much more competitive,"Luján said."
