Jay-Z's '4:44' Goes Platinum in Less Than a Week

JAY Z'S 4:44 ILLEGALLY DOWNLOADED A MILLION TIMES IN FIRST 72 HOURS

"Another Platinum album adds to an already iconic career".

It's unclear at this time how 4:44 was able to move one million units in less than a week, though it's a possibility Jay Z struck some sort of deal with Sprint like how he did in 2013 with Samsung.

Ed Sheeran's Divide and Kendrick Lamar's DAMN are the onlyother albums that have gone platinum in 2017, but both took significantly longer than five days to reach that mark.

Samsung ploughing billions into boosting memory production
Samsung added that it is considering adding more semiconductor production lines in its factory in Xi'an, China . Samsung said this investment could create up to 440,000 jobs through 2021, along with booming the economy.

What did help, though, was when 160 iHeartRadio stations streamed "4:44" for its 35-minute length.

Since it was a Sprint exclusive release in the USA when it arrived on June 30 last week, listeners there had to be existing Tidal subscribers or be Sprint customers to listen with a newly created account and free trial.

Jay-Z made headlines with 4:44 as the album features the 47-year-old addressing his relationship with wife Beyonce following the release of Lemonade and the infamous elevator fight he had with her sister Solange.

After conquering Pacquiao, Horn lines up Mayweather
You could sense that he was willing to do whatever it took to get the victory. At 38, it was exactly the fight he didn't want. The bullying nearly drove Horn to suicide.

If you recall, something similar happened with Jay's last album.

The RIAA hasn't explicitly confirmed that 4:44's platinum status was the result of prepaid albums, but in a statement to Vulture, it hinted that Sprint was involved: "Under the program's rules, the artist needs to be compensated and there needs to be demonstrated consumer demand in the United States, either for an on-demand stream or a sale". The RIAA also notes that while some might see this business model as a certification loophole, it wasn't totally corporate.

"36% more than Jay-Z suggesting that piracy is not as dependent on exclusive windowing as we may believe", according to Muso CEO Andy Chatterley. As 1,500 song or music video streams account for a single unit, there had to have been 1.5 billion streams in order to make the certification. Per the RIAA, Hova is in rare air as the only Hip-Hop artists with 10 platinum studio albums.

He called for long-lasting cooperation among Pakistan, Afghanistan and the United States (US) for peace in Afghanistan. The US senators also praised the economic turnaround, as manifested by investors' interest and confidence in Pakistan.

This achievement is especially gobsmacking since the album, its songs and its associated video materials were only available through Jay-Z-owned TIDAL for pre-existing subscribers of the music streaming service and United States carrier Sprint, which owns a one-third stake in TIDAL.
