House Speaker Ryan threatens action on Russian Federation sanctions amid Central Intelligence Agency concerns

Congresswoman Maxine Walters speaks at a

The legislation is labeled as a House bill to avoid a procedural issue that prompted House Republican leaders to send the measure back to the Senate.

The legislation, however, has stalled in the House as the administration works to soften the congressional reach.

Ryan said he has been told that US companies object to the energy-related sanctions in the bill, which oil and gas manufacturers say could hurt USA businesses while strengthening Russian interests.

He said he expected the House to make changes that would not affect the bill's overall character and to address issues that have anxious energy companies, such as a provision that oil firms said could block them out of global exploration projects if Russian firms were also involved. "I think the president has to have some flexibility here just in case there is reason to respond positively to things Russian Federation does". That means it would take time for the Senate - mired in its health care fight - to consider a new North Korean sanctions measure added to the Russian Federation sanctions bill.

Opposition to the June sanctions bill was not restricted to Capitol Hill. "Especially in light of today's revelations that the Trump campaign met with Russian officials intent on swaying the election, Congress needs to show unity and impose sanctions for these very acts".

Charlie's mother Connie Yates shouted out, accusing Francis of misquoting her earlier statements about her son's quality of life. The judge has requested Charlie's parents to produce "all evidence" of potential treatment and whether it would help their son.

Washington, Jul 11 The White House has hit out Democratic senators for delaying crucial appointments by delaying confirmation of the Trump administration's nominations for high-ranking posts in the government. "The issue is, are they going to act on Russian Federation sanctions, period".

Some law makers are certain that a stalled bill imposing new sanctions on Russian Federation will be passed soon.

House Democrats have not decided yet whether to file their own version of an Iran-Russia sanctions bill, the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee told THE WEEKLY STANDARD Wednesday afternoon.

The Senate's majority vote on the bill received an angry response from some European capitals.

"Our concern is that the legislation, we believe, sets an unusual precedent of delegating foreign policy to 535 members of Congress by not including certain national security waivers that have always been consistently part of sanctions bills in the past", White House legislative director Marc Short told reporters Monday.

The German statement also said the country's security services were steering Liu's treatment rather than the doctors. Mo Zhixu, a family friend, told Efe that as far as he knew, Liu and his entourage continued to seek to leave China.

The Senate passed the Iran and Russian Federation sanctions measure last month but the House parliamentarian ruled that late-added language violated the Origination Clause of the Constitution, creating a so-called blue slip issue.

House Democrats' objection stems from language in the updated bill that would have removed the ability of a disapproval resolution to be brought up under a privileged motion, removing the ability of the minority to call up a vote.

"We relied upon the House, and it was told to us it was technical in that it had the proper sign off", Cardin said. The legislation also expands sanctions against Iran for ballistic missile tests and the activities of the country's Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Texas lawmakers and energy companies have raised concerns about the way the sanctions could affect the U.S. energy sector, although the Senate disagrees that it's an issue. The national trade association representing oil and gas companies said the bill could harm USA energy companies while strengthening the hand of Russian businesses. "But aside from those issues we want to get this done, and get this fixed, and get this moving as quickly as possible".
