Egypt beach attack leaves six tourists injured after knifeman stabs holidaymakers at Red Sea resort

Two holidaymakers were killed and four others wounded in a stabbing at Hurghada on the Red Sea.

Two Ukrainians are known to be among the victims, three from Serbia and one from Poland.

The knifeman killed the two German women and wounded two other tourists at the Zahabia hotel in Hurghada on Friday, officials and security sources said.

The nationalities of the injured women were not clear immediately, it said. However, initial media reports say that two tourists died from their injuries.

Friday's attack on the Egyptian resort came just hours after five policemen were shot to death in the city of Giza by suspected Islamic militants.

The dead were first identified as Ukrainian, but Major General Mohamed El-Hamzawi, Red Sea region's security manager, later said they were German.
