Phillies trade RP Pat Neshek to Rockies for three prospects

Rockies acquire Pat Neshek from Phillies for three prospects

The Colorado Rockies finally made the big free agency move fans had been waiting for, acquiring a pitcher with a fantastic ERA, minuscule WHIP and big strikeout numbers to add to the bullpen.

Neshek is a side-winding veteran who has posted a 1.12 ERA so far over 40.1 IP this season. That's expert analysis right there.

The 36-year-old was sent to the Phillies by Houston in last year's offseason. That's one hell of a difference between pitches. "Hammer's fastball gets some swings and misses already and he does a good job of locating it".

Maduro Lashes Out against US Sanctions as Venezuela's Protests See More Deaths
The existing Supreme Court has consistently backed Maduro and shot down all measures by the opposition-led National Assembly. Maduro has repeatedly blamed the crisis on the United States, saying Washington has incited the opposition.

Neshek has seen his K/9 rise up to its highest level since 2008 when he was a member of the Twins, now producing a 10.04 strikeouts per nine rate to go along with a career-best 1.12 BB/9. After all, an Aroldis Chapman rental got the Yankees Gleyber Torres previous year, so the Phillies would be getting back a solid, almost Majors ready prospect right? He left open the possibility he could resign with the Phillies in the off-season.

The Phillies received Jose Gomez a shortstop, Alejandro Requena and J.D. Hammer a pair of right-handed pitchers. "The Rockies were interested from day one". Gomez, ranked 21st in the Rockies' system, is batting.324 (leading the South Atlantic League) and has 33 RBI and 18 stolen bases on the year. The hard-throwing bullpen arm was promoted to high-A Lancaster in June and has struggled there. Hammer also comes complete with glasses in the style of Wild Thing.

Requena was 8-3 with a 2.85 ERA in 19 starts for low-A Asheville this season.

Asked if there should be a tournament like the Indian Premier League for women in India, Mithali said this was something for the Board of Control for Cricket in India to deal with.

So how did the Phillies do? It's fun! Plus, you can check back in three years and see which no-name prospect turned into the next Corey Kluber.

With Neshek on board, the Rockies now boast a bullpen with him, Holland and a resurgent Jake McGee as their own version of a three-headed monster.

There's plenty of time for the postseason situation to play out, but there isn't much time left for teams to get the players that they need in order to make sure they have their best team on the field to make that last postseason push.

Prisoner Escapes Rikers Island, Facility On Lockdown
Rikers Island is the city's largest jail and has been plagued for years by a culture of violence and corruption. As CBS2's Valerie Castro reported, vehicles were again coming onto and off the island by 11 p.m.

Either way, the addition of Neshek should help keep some of the young Colorado starters fresh and also seal an extra victory or two, which could be the difference between a one-game playoff and sitting in the cold this October.
