Florida offense sputters in 33-17 loss to MI

Kickoff will be at 3:30 pm ET on Saturday, September 2nd. With that comes the first edition of our weekly staff predictions article.

Opening day is usually the most anticipated game of the season, and it's certainly true in this case, given the big-time matchup between traditional powers on a national stage.

Suspensions surely played a role in the ineptitude, and if Florida had enjoyed plenty of success on offense in recent years, this is a blip that could be shrugged off easily enough. That puts the pressure squarely on MI to beat the short-handed Gators.

Here are three things to know about the game and what it means for both MI and Florida moving forward in 2017. That said, Franks still would have had an easy first down, but MI cornerback Josh Metellus fought through an attempted block by receiver Brandon Powell and stripped Franks near the 35.

Florida has had the same identity for roughly ten years now. Multiple other players said they want to forget it. The Gators are expecting the defense to be the strength of this team again. "Why can't we step out on the field in Cowboys Stadium and play a simple game of football?". The Gators went for an all blue look while the Wolverines went for the much rarer all maize look.

Of all the questions emanating from the Gators' awful performance Saturday in Arlington, arguably the most disturbing one involved the offensive line. MI took a 26-17 lead. MI needs the calm, collected, cool - and most importantly, controlled - Speight to evolve if it wants to take that long-awaited next step in the Big Ten conference under third-year coach Jim Harbaugh. While Black started the game with a dropped pass, he didn't let that effect his play moving forward.

Thousands evacuated in Frankfurt as officials work to defuse WW2 bomb
The massive bomb was discovered last week in a leafy suburb of the city; an area home to numerous city's wealthiest residents. Local authorities coordinated the evacuation and will attempt to remove the bomb's fuse using a remotely-controlled device.

I think the travel to Texas and suspended players will prove to be a major distraction for Florida. Most notably, offensive weapons Antonio Callaway and Jordan Scarlett.

"The letter was from Antony Riddle of Jackson, Michigan, and he talked about how he went into battle in Iraq, being 20 years old, leading a group of 52 Marines and none of them were over 20", Harbaugh said.

MI left a lot of points on the board today but still ended up cruising to a win. Florida took a 17-10 lead.

On Paper this is a game that could go either way.

AUBURN 41, GA. SOUTHERN 7 Jarrett Stidham threw two touchdown passes and ran for a score in his debut for No. 12 Auburn (1-0) in a home victory over Georgia Southern (0-1). Absent a positive first drive that resulted in a field goal, the rest of the day for Florida resembled Walmart the night before Christmas and scores of people trying to get their last-minute shopping in. "We have a lot more to play". Maurice Hurst had 34 tackles and 4.5 sacks.

Michigan's defense was ravaged by departures, creating more opportunity for ballyhooed defensive end Rashan Gary to live up to the hype.

United Kingdom manufacturing unexpectedly accelerates to four-month high
A PMI of 56.9 represented the second-highest level of activity in the industry in three years, and rose from 55.3 in July. A Chinese manufacturing index expanded to its highest in six months in August, a private survey showed Friday.

The season opener against MI pitted two big-name programs on one of the biggest stages in sports. The defense - especially the front seven - somehow looks better under defensive coordinator Don Brown.

Ninth-ranked MI opens the season Saturday against No. 16 Florida in the AdvoCare Classic at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. I like the Wolverines chances against Florida and here's why.

After almost a full decade of short-lived quarterbacks and struggles to move the ball, Florida finally looked positioned to make some noise on offense entering fall camp. "Really, really proud of them".

"Coach Harbaugh talked to me at halftime and said this: 'Your next move is crucial, '" Speight said.

Speight's precision was an issue, on occasion, last season. The Wolverines win 29-17. Even though Florida led at the half, this game was never that much in doubt thanks to the defense.

The defense was fantastic and held the Gators to just 20 rushing yards and 153 total yards.

Deadly building collapse in India
Once the rescue work gets over, the government will conduct a probe to ascertain the factors behind the building collapse . Fire brigade officials said some nine families lived in the dilapidated Husaini Building, which also housed a play school.

"This isn't the only game", defensive end Josh Sweat said, "but it definitely is a very big game, and everybody knows it is".
