New Cast Members Announced For Season 43 Of Saturday Night Live

NBC on Tuesday confirmed Heidi Gardner, Luke Null and Chris Redd have joined the long-running sketch comedy series, following last season's departures of vets Bobby Moynihan, Vanessa Bayer and Sasheer Zamata after nine, seven and four seasons, respectively. It's likely that you haven't heard of these names before, but we'll fill you in on each of the new Saturday Night Live cast members below. And Redd is a comedian and rapper who recently performed at Chicago's Second City.

While Redd, Gardner and Null are relatively unknown to wide audiences, they bring stage experience and comedic chops to the sketch show. Check out some of Redd's previous work on Netflix's Disjointed, Love and Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later.

Gardner, a Kansas City, Missouri, native, trained and performed with the Groundlings in Los Angeles.

OH native Null also developed his skills here in Chicago, where he wrote and performed at iO and The Annoyance.

Sure, there's been music from the likes of The Lonely Island and music videos featuring plenty of well-produced music on SNL in recent years, but an acoustic, singing comedian in the vein of Adam Sandler hasn't made waves on the show since Jimmy Fallon left the series years ago.

"Saturday Night Live" Season 43 premieres this Saturday.

Along with hiring three new cast members, the series will be adding a string of new writers including Sam Jay, Gary Richardson, Erik Marino, Andrew Dismukes, Steven Castillo, Claire Friedman and Nimesh Patal.

The trio will make their series debut September 30, with the Ryan Gosling-hosted season premiere.
