Man City's Silva prays for Champions League triumph

Sergio Aguero became Manchester City's highest scorer in history during Wednesday's Champions League clash against Napoli.

As in the initial meeting in Manchester, events unfolded at a brisk pace from the opening whistle but it was City - smothered by the Napoli press - who found themselves on the back foot on this occasion.

Napoli flagged from that point and, after substitute Bernardo Silva wasted a pair of good openings, Raheem Sterling gleefully added a fourth. The first shot of the match eventually came from Marek Hamsik in the sixth minute, although his effort was comfortable for Ederson.

Indeed, it was the home side that made the breakthrough in the 21st minute when Insigne played a one-two with Mertens inside the City box before finding the back of the net with a super finish.
