Apple Shared Secret Qualcomm Chip Info With Intel, Suit Says

Qualcomm buildings is shown in San Diego California

Apple has relied on Qualcomm chips all along until iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 series, and the iPhone X, Apple started using a mix of Qualcomm and Intel chips.

Qualcomm has sued Apple, alleging that it violated a software license contract to benefit rival chipmaker Intel Corp for making broadband modems, the latest salvo in the longstanding dispute between Qualcomm and Apple.

Sony's Aibo robot dog returns but different from its predecessor
It also established a venture capital fund to build partnerships with researchers and start-up companies in AI and robotics. Sony's new Aibo dog is an ivorywhite puppy-sized, 30 centimetre hound with flapping black ears and a wagging tail.

The dominant chipmaker filed a lawsuit in a California state court claiming Apple broke a contract when it emailed Qualcomm asking for "highly confidential" information about how its chips work in devices that run an unnamed carrier's network.

Apple then made a decision to stop making licensing payments to Qualcomm, which led to a massive drop in revenue for Qualcomm. Qualcomm believes Apple could have given Intel access to the proprietary software to help with its own chip development. Qualcomm accused Apple of throwing its weight around to get a bargain then asked a court to block iPhone sales.

SEMA 2017: Jeep Shows Off New Wrangler and Mopar Accessories
For now, the only real detail we have about the 2018 Wrangler models are three images that Jeep has published. The official unveiling is less than a month away - on November 29, at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The lawsuit also claims Apple did little to stop the valuable Qualcomm information from being shared with Apple engineers who were working with Intel. Apple's decision about next year's products comes after the San Diego-based Qualcomm withheld software needed to test chips in prototypes, the Wall Street Journal reported.

In contrast, revenue from Qualcomm's licensing business fell 36 percent to $1.21 billion in the quarter ended September 24.

Taxi mounts sidewalk, hits pedestrians in London, not terrorism-related
Four people were injured in the incident, with three taken to hospital and a fourth treated at the scene, paramedics said. London has been on a heightened state of alert after a number of vehicle-related incidents in the capital this year.

According to commentators, Apple generally looks for two suppliers for its key components, and as the battle with Qualcomm continues, it makes sense to have MediaTek onboard. But the escalating legal action is taking a toll on Qualcomm's financial performance-a 90 percent year-over-year drop in quarterly profit, the company CEO said on Wednesday.
