French Soccer Player Sent Off For Kicking One Of His Own Fans

Evra sent off before match for attacking fan

Marseille have suspended defender Patrice Evra after he aimed a kick at one of the club's supporters before Thursday's Europa League tie at Vitoria.

The statement also added a veiled defense of Evra's actions by condemning "pseudo fans, who insult their team's players when they should be supporting them".

France fullback Evra has been regularly targeted by Marseille fans since joining from Juventus during the close season and his poor performances have led coach Rudi Garcia to drop him from the starting line-up.

Starcraft 2's First Campaign, Wings of Liberty, is Going Free-to-Play
The entire first single-player campaign and all the multiplayer modes for zero dollars is a pretty good deal. In the seven years since it released in 2010, StarCraft II has awarded over $11M in prizes to competitors.

The incident occurred before kick-off when, according to BBC Sport, a group of Marseille supporters "had been jeering Evra for about half an hour while the players prepared for the game".

The 36-year-old was named as a substitute for the game, meaning that Marseille could start with the full complement of 11.

Patrice Evra could face a ban of months after kicking one of his own fans in the head.

Indian power plant blast kills 26
The 1,550 megawatt (MW) plant supplies electricity to nine states, according to the company's website, and employs 870 people. Other units at the plant are either under scheduled maintenance or are not operating now due to lack of demand, NTPC said.

"Additionally, the early results of an internal investigation conducted by the club have revealed the unacceptable behaviour shown by a handful of provocative people slewing heinous insults particularly serious towards the player while he and his teammates prepared for an important match".

"In any case, a professional player must keep his cool in the face of provocations and insults as hard and unjustified as they are. It's obvious", Garcia said.

Evra is nearly certain to face a more severe sanction from UEFA following scenes reminiscent of Eric Cantona's kung-fu kick at Selhurst Park in 1995.
