Uber, NASA Team Up to Make Flying Cars Reality By 2020

Uber has struck a deal with NASA to develop software for 'flying taxi' routes in the air by 2020

The tech company has partnered with NASA to help it develop air traffic management systems for its flying taxi initiatives, chief product officer Jeff Holden said on Wednesday.

For Uber, the way around traffic is above it, and they released a new video showcasing how an aerial taxi service could make daily commuting more bearable for a working mom who's trying to get home to her kids. Because if you're going to have people flying to work, you're gonna need some stoplights in the sky or something.

The company has signed a Space Act Agreement with NASA and will work with the space agency to manage its air traffic. Now Los Angeles will also be added to the roster.

Uber's plans to have air taxis in every city have leapt off the drawing board after it signed a deal with the U.S. space agency. Back then, he singled out the Dallas area in Texas and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates as the first test beds.

Meek Mill sentenced to minimum two years prison for violating probation
Meek appeared in court in Philadelphia on November 6 for two recent arrests: one for getting into a fight at an airport in St. The sentence drew outrage from several fellow African American celebrities, who said the prison time was disproportionate.

The company's plans may cause some skepticism considering 2020 is only two years away.

Uber has been involved with regulatory issues around the world over its app-based ride-sharing service, and is hoping to avoid similar problems over its air plans. "Our target, and this is ambitious but I think it's very achievable, is to make this less expensive than driving your own auto", Holden said. Instead the fleet of electric jet-powered vehicles will be developed by existing aircraft manufacturers, including Aurora Flight Services.

The goal is to make transportation fast, and affordable - and it hopes the service will be ready for commercial operations "several years ahead" of the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

And it seems that Uber has been making the moves to ensure it will happen.

It comes after a series of missile and nuclear tests in the past few months, a sharp escalation from recent years. It was not pleasant for them, was it?' said Trump , who wore a leather bomber jacket as he addressed the troops.

Previously, Nasa has said that it was working with a variety of companies to develop urban air mobility.

Known for its unmanageable traffic, Los Angeles will make for an interesting test bed for the flying vehicles. Engadget reports that the new service could take an hour and a half LA drive down to under 30 minutes.

"We are in the earliest stages of learning about this technology and how it might impact our communities, and look forward to continuing the discussion in the coming months and years", he said.
